NCM Partnering with the University of Rhode Island Pharmaceutical Development Institute (PDI)
Natures Comfort Research and Development, Inc., is working to
to contract the University of Rhode Island Pharmaceutical Development Institute (PDI), to aid in the extraction of CBD oil using equipment provided by Natures Comfort Research and Development, Inc. This development work will be performed in the Analytical Laboratory of the PDI. The PDI will provide and dedicate an area for the use of Natures Comfort Research and Development, Inc., and the area will be monitored and maintained by the PDI. The proposed duration of this work will be 60 days, starting in June 2019 and ending in August 2019. The ethanol used in the extraction process will be provided by the PDI. All remaining reagents
(hemp (with appropriate traceability and control)) will be provided by Natures Comfort Research and Development, Inc. All support activities will be performed at the PDI by personnel who are properly trained for such activities and with Quality Assurance oversight. It is anticipated that additional scopes of work will be executed as the project progresses through development.
Following the completion of the precursor activities, the next activities will focus on the analytical testing of the CBD oil extract and pre-formulation activities. These activities include:
• Development and optimization of the extraction process
• Attempts to identify active compounds in the CBD oil.
• Physical characterization studies (freezing point, organoleptic, viscosity, etc.)
• Assay development
• Stability studies (conducted at room temp, accelerated, light)
• Solubility and solubilization studies
• Compatibility studies
• Reports with QA Oversight
